metrorail thumb medium90 92SABC News reports that Cape Town rail commuters marched on the offices of the Passenger Rail Agency of SA (Prasa) demanding better services.

Under the auspices of the Public Transport Voice, which was formed in 2014 as an organisation that advocates for quality and affordable public transport, they complained that excessive delays, robberies, muggings and lack of communication were among the major issues.  Earlier in 2017, Cosatu labelled the commute for those on the Cape Flats lines as a "hell run".  For tens of thousands of commuters, the rail system is the only form of transport.  Metrorail Regional Manager Richard Walker responded:  "We'll convene a meeting with the Public Transport and respond formally to the demands and also be able in detail demonstrate and tell them about our action plans in terms of recovering the service and bringing it back to where it should be."
