amcu thumb medium80 81Business Report writes that Paul O’ Sullivan, one of SA’s top forensic investigators, is ready to get to the bottom of the rising number of assassinations of mineworkers in the platinum belt, after being approached by the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu).

Amcu, the largest union on the North West platinum belt, last week raised the red flag on the continuing bloodshed, particularly of its members, and indicated it had enlisted the services of O’Sullivan, who has 37 years of law enforcement to step in.  O’Sullivan said:  “We would like to go into the investigations objectively, get to the facts and find out who is behind the killings.  I am not interested in politics.”  He also indicated that it was not the first time a trade union had asked for his services.  Saying that it was his belief that there was a third force involved in the killings, O’Sullivan said he planned to carry out the investigations in conjunction with the police.
