SABC News reports that two miners have been trapped underground after a rock fall at the AngloGold Ashanti Kopanang mine in Vaal Reefs near Klerksdorp in North West.  One body has been recovered.  

Job Dliso, provincial secretary of trade union federation Cosatu said:  “We have just received bad news that at Kopanang Shaft number nine in Vaal Reefs, two workers have been trapped, and one has lost his life.  The rescue team is busy trying to rescue the other one.  And we have been making this call for mining bosses that they must take care of the workers so we are very disturbed of this increasing incidents in the province.”
