EWN reports that a former 34-year-old female employee at the Department of Home Affairs has been arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Anti-Corruption Unit for issuing allegedly fraudulent permits.
During 2015, the suspect allegedly manipulated the department’s administration system, issuing permits to foreign nationals and asking a fee of just over R10,000 for each permit. The Hawks’ Lloyd Ramovha said: “Comprehensive investigations resulted in the arrest of the suspect on 3 November. She has been warned to appear in Cape Town Regional Court on 13 November to face charges related to corruption and fraud.”
