hospersaeNCA reports that the Health & Other Services Personnel Trade Union of SA (Hospersa) has threatened to pull its paramedic members off the roads.

The threat came after an ambulance, carrying an eight-year-old boy, was ambushed and robbed in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Cape Town.  The boy later died in hospital.  Hospersa said such attacks have been increasing at an alarming rate across the country.  Over 100 attacks were reported in the Western Cape in 2016.  The South African Medical Association (SAMA) has also come out strongly against the attack saying it was "sickening."
