EWN reports that Metrorail in the Western Cape is fighting back as it tries to curb crime affecting its infrastructure services. At least seven people have been arrested for various offences, including possession of stolen goods.
On Friday, two men were nabbed at a rail yard. Several hours later, two other men were arrested while trying to rob commuters between the Koeberg and Salt River stations. On Friday evening, two suspects were caught red-handed stripping wiring from a carriage traveling between Woodstock and Cape Town.
