News24 reports that a miner died in a fall of ground accident at Harmony Gold’s Kusasalethu mine in Carletonville on Tuesday morning.
The gender and name of the victim will not be released until his or her next of kin have been notified. Harmony spokesperson Sihle Maake said this was the company's first fatality for the current financial year, which started this July. An investigation into the accident was still underway, Maake indicated. Five miners died at the mine when a tremor caused sections of the mine to collapse on 25 August 2017.
