citypowerBusinessLive reports that Johannesburg's City Power has dismissed another of its employees for alleged misconduct related to work done with contractor Setheo Engineering.

MMC for environment and infrastructure services, Nico de Jager, said on Sunday that this was the second employee within the last week dismissed as a result of collusion with the contractor, who allegedly received R88m for incomplete work at the Eldorado Park substation.  The City maintains that Setheo received the contract via a fraudulent Absa bank guarantee that led the City to believe that the firm had the balance sheet to handle the project.  De Jager indicated that the City was proceeding with the project, but had faced delays.  The project was now being overseen from within the City, rather than through contractors, and the dismissed employees had been involved in project management, he stated.  City Power is a municipal entity that is wholly owned by the City of Johannesburg, but it has an independent board.
