Mining Weekly reports that an employee of mining contractor Stefanutti Stocks Mining Services (SSMS) has died after sustaining injuries in a vehicle incident at coal miner Wescoal's Vanggatfontein mine on Monday night.  

The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy is reportedly investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.  "Wescoal and SSMS are saddened by the loss of one of our colleagues and wish to express our deepest and sincerest condolences to the deceased employee’s family, friends and colleagues,” Wescoal CEO Reginald Demana said on Tuesday.
