TimesLIVE reports that a female official working at the East London Female Correctional Centre, in Westbank, has tested positive for Covid-19, the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) advised on Monday.  

DCS spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo indicated that all officials who came into contact with the infected person have been identified and asked to isolate at home whilst awaiting testing.  The National Institute for Communicable Disease (NICD) will start mass screening and testing at the East London facility on Wednesday.  Nxumalo said prevention measures would be intensified.
