hawksNews24 reports that two Hawks officials, recently promoted to sergeants at the Serious Corruption Offences units in Pretoria and Ivory Park, were arrested on Thursday after allegedly defrauding the police of approximately R4,756.

The arrests followed an investigation into the detectives for allegedly creating fictitious accommodation invoices while travelling for interprovincial investigations between 2015 and 2018. These invoices were then submitted to various police stations' finance offices for capturing purposes. The investigation also revealed that most of the guesthouse invoices that the suspects submitted did not exist. The duo aged 35 and 42 were arrested and charged for fraud and were scheduled to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate's Court on Friday.
