gavel thumb100 News24 reports that the sexual assault case of former school teacher and Media24 journalist Willem Breytenbach has been postponed in the Cape Town Regional Court to give the parties the opportunity to gather "further particulars".

The case relates to allegations which copywriter Deon Wigget revealed in the podcast "My Only Story". Soon thereafter other people stepped forward and claimed that they too had been victims of Bretenbach. Some of the allegations date back to 1989 and 1990 when Breytenbach taught at Grey College in Bloemfontein. The application for further particulars was made in terms of Section 87 of the Criminal Procedure Act, which gives accused persomns the right to see the details of the charges they face so that they can be properly informed when preparing their defence. The matter was postponed to 29 June.
