Mining Weekly reports that diversified mining and renewable energy solutions company Exxaro Resources has established a partnership with nonprofit organisation the Youth Employment Service (YES).
Through this partnership, programmes will be implemented across Exxaro’s coal mining operations in Limpopo and Mpumalanga to help create employment pathways for young South Africans. The programmes which will be implemented in the mining company’s host communities include the SME.Tax initiative, which will provide 50 young accountants with skills and practical work experience to help them reach and sustain a position. The other initiative is LulaRides, which will train 200 young South African scooter drivers over 12 months. The drivers will then be in a position to earn an income from working on various online delivery platforms. The YES Programme aims to transform companies, communities and the youth by connecting the youth to economic opportunity.
