gavel thumb100 News24 reports that the former Oudtshoorn deputy mayor, who faces charges of sexual assault, will remain in custody until next year.

Mlandeli Nyuka, who was arrested in October after a 37-year-old employee in his office opened a case of sexual assault against him, made a brief court appearance in the Oudtshoorn Magistrate's Court on Tuesday. The case was postponed to January for further investigation and a possible regional court date. Nyuka resigned last month as deputy mayor amid the allegations against him.
