gunEWN reports that two security officers were shot by unknown gunmen at a taxi rank near the Kwamnyandu Mall in Umlazi, south of Durban, on Monday afternoon.

One of them succumbed to his injuries. ALS paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson, said the deceased sustained multiple gunshot wounds. “On arrival, paramedics found that security officers had been shot multiple times. Unfortunately, one security officer, believed to be approximately 30 years of age, had sustained multiple fatal gunshot wounds and there was nothing more paramedics could do for him,” he reported. The other security guard was rushed to hospital for medical treatment. The motive for the shooting is not yet known.
