SABC News reports that according to Western Cape traffic authorities, two people died and 20 others were injured after a truck transporting agricultural workers overturned in Wellington.
Spokesperson for the provincial Mobility Department, Muneera Allie, indicated that that the workers had been traveling to a farm in a nearby area. She also advised that the truck driver had been arrested. Provincial Agriculture Minister Ivan Meyer reacted that farmers and producers who transported agri-workers had to ensure the safety of their vehicles and the transportation of their workers. He added that these workers were the key to the Western Cape’s agricultural sector.
