durbanNews24 reports that the eThekwini Municipality said on Monday that Durban Transport buses would be back on the road on Tuesday.

The city apologised to commuters after they were left stranded when strike action began on Thursday last week.  eThekwini’s head of communications, Tozi Mthethwa, said buses stopped operating on 2 July when some of the drivers refused to get behind the wheel.  The following day more drivers downed tools and the entire service was affected.  The city earlier informed all commuters using the municipality’s bus service, which is operated by private operators, that the bus service had not been restored in all affected areas due to the strike.
