handshake thumb medium90 90eNCA reports that the City of Johannesburg’s Matshidiso Mfekoe the announced on Sunday that the month-long strike at waste removal agency Pikitup has finally come to an end.  

She also issued an apology to residents for the challenges experienced during the long-drawn protest action.  Dakhile told journalist at a briefing that 50% would be deducted from striking workers’ salaries, as part of the "no work no pay" policy, another 50% will be deducted at a later point.  Striking employees were demanding a monthly salary of between R8,000 and R10,000. They also wanted the company to remove Pikitup boss, Amanda Nair.
