BDLive reports that industrial action at a major distribution centre in Centurion owned by Shoprite ended on Tuesday.
However, supporters of the casual workers at the facility say they are mobilising for a march scheduled for Thursday, maintaining that outsourced workers were "coerced" to return to work. Staff downed tools on Monday over issues of outsourcing and pay, maintaining that 90% of the 1,000 workers at the facility were employed by labour brokers, and that they were paid poverty wages. The strike ended with final warnings issued to those participating. But four of the workers’ leaders were "excluded" from the agreement to return to work, pointing to their victimisation, said Clarence Debeila, spokesman of #Outsourcingmustfall, which was supporting the industrial action.
