The Citizen reports that according to Democratic Alliance (DA) Johannesburg mayoral candidate Herman Mashaba, the city needs to be clean and free of crime to attract local and international tourists.
Speaking during a bus tour of some of the city’s attractions, he said that, if elected, crime and the untidiness of the city would be his main focus. Mashaba said “the filthiness of the city” could be addressed using unemployed people. “If we make it our priority to hire them to clean the city, this would grow the economy,” he opined.
