BDLive reports that trade unions involved in wage negotiations at South African Airways (SAA) have reviewed their wage demands, raising them back from single to double digits, following statements made by the airline’s board chairwoman Dudu Myeni.
Myeni hosted a meeting between President Jacob Zuma and SAA staff on Friday, at which she said: "This company has money, it will continue to operate without government guarantees in future. Our aircraft are always full." The unions had been considering an offer from management of a 6% basic salary increase and 7% on the housing subsidy with 7% on the medical contribution subsidy. But they have now upped their demands to a 11% basic salary increase.
