ANA reports that a North West miner has not yet been located, more than a week after he went missing following a rock fall incident on 17 May at Impala Platinum’s (Implats’) 1 Shaft near Rustenburg.
Implats spokesperson Johan Theron said efforts to find rock drill operator Ohemile Moses Maamogwa were continuing around the clock, tunnelling into the area where he was last seen. Maamogwa was trapped underground with fellow rock drill operator Tanki Samuel Lepitikoe, whose body was found last Thursday. Mining operations at Implats’ 1 Shaft have been suspended as the search for Maamogwa continues.
