eNCA reports that Parliament’s Labour Portfolio Committee chairperson, Lumka Yengeni, has yet to respond to weekend reports that she breached several labour laws.
Yengeni's former domestic worker, Lucia Dlepu, took her to the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA), where a settlement was reached. While the ANC has defended Yengeni, the DA is calling for action against her. According to the ANC, the media reports are without substance and deliberately misleading, because an agreement was reached between the two parties. The DA has referred the matter to Parliament’s Ethics Committee.
