cosatuBusiness Report writes that labour federation Cosatu will embark on mass protest action against rail and bus services in Cape Town on Tuesday.  

The protest will see Cosatu and its affiliates march against entities such as Metrorail and the City of Cape Town over a slew of issues with the city’s transport infrastructure.  Demands will include the call for the provincial government to develop transport infrastructure between rural towns and ensure trains are reliable and better maintained.  The federation is also demanding the Cape Flats be included on the MyCiTi bus routes.  Cosatu has furthermore demanded that employers should stop disciplining workers who come in late because of train delays.  Cosatu provincial officer bearers will hand over a memorandum at 14h00 at the Cape Town City Council offices.
