TMG Digital reports that paramedics were threatened with a knife‚ stripped of their personal belongings and one of them stabbed with a broken bottle by robbers as they loaded a patient into an ambulance in Cape Town.
The ambulance was vandalised. There have been several incidents of paramedics being attacked in and around the city this year. A provincial emergency services crew was robbed at knifepoint in Khayelitsha in May. In January a paramedic was robbed of medical equipment in Mitchells Plain.
