Netwerk24 reports that a shepherd from Mount Fletcher in the Eastern Cape was found dead in the veld after a heavy snow storm in the mountains of the Thabese area.
It seems his death was due to exposure to the cold. According to Mandla Gceya, municipal spokesperson for the Joe Gqabi district, the frozen bodies of another two shepherds were found by family members, but their deaths have not yet been confirmed by the police. Gceya said 45 shepherds were trapped in the mountains during the storm over the weekend. (Loosely translated from Afrikaans)
