CapeTownlogoTMG Digital reports that Cosatu is to take the City of Cape Town to court over its appointment of a mayoral committee (Mayco) which the labour federation says is heavily weighted in favour of white men.

"The appointment of Mayco members… is disappointing and against the constitutional principles of employment equity and equality.  This Mayco has only three women and [comprises] 50% white members‚ most of whom have demonstrated their incompetence over the last two terms of 10 years,” Cosatu’s Western Cape secretary‚ Tony Ehrenreich‚ said in a statement.  He went on to state:  "Cosatu will be taking this matter to the equality court to remove some of the DA verkrampte whites from leadership in the City."
