News24 reports that a memorial service will be held in Bloemfontein on Wednesday for the 10 soldiers killed in a bus crash on the R712 near Golden Gate in the Free State on Friday.
Several others were injured when the military bus transporting 40 people to the Basotho Cultural Village for an event overturned on the winding road in the Golden Gate Highlands National Park nature reserve. Nine soldiers died on the scene. The tenth person died soon after arriving at a hospital. Defence and Military Veterans Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula is expected to attend Wednesday’s proceedings at the Christian Revival Church.
