amcu thumb medium80 81BDLive reports that the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu) said on Monday it had declared wage deadlocks with all of the three largest platinum houses over its demands for a R12,500 basic monthly salary.

This will precipitate internal dispute resolution processes that could precede further external mediation.  Amcu will meet Anglo American Platinum (Amplats) on Tuesday and Impala Platinum (Implats) on Wednesday, with no meeting yet scheduled with Lonmin.  This could lead to about four weeks of meetings, which could end in the union declaring disputes and referring the matter to the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).
