sandf thumb medium90 89EWN reports that twenty-seven employees have been suspended at the SA Army Support Base in Polokwane, Limpopo, following allegations of widespread fraud.  

The Army said it has been defrauded out of more than R6 million.  It is alleged that some staff members have been using money allocated for events to buy cars and property.  Defence force spokesperson Colonel Ronald Maseko indicated:  ‘Nineteen of them are uniform members, and eight of them Public Service Act Personnel.  The members will remain on leave until such time that investigations are concluded.”
