EWN reported on Friday that negotiations were still underway between striking Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) workers and management.
Workers went on strike earlier this week demanding a 15% salary hike. The SA Commercial, Catering and Allied Workers’ Union (Saccawu) has rejected the company’s offer of a 10% increase. Cableway Marketing Manager Collette Van Aswegen said: “The Saccawu members have been allocated a designated area on which to protest to avoid any disturbance to our visitors.” The Cableway will apparently be open this weekend, weather permitting.
