Mining Weekly reports that the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) and Impala Platinum (Implats) have reached a two-year wage deal, effective July 2016 until June 2018, for workers at the company’s refinery in Springs.
The deal concluded on Friday ends a strike which was initiated last Tuesday. The 1,000 workers at the operation, of which about half are NUM members, will see basic wage increases of 7.5% to 10% a year over the two-year period. Certain other improvements in conditions will also apply.
