Business Report writes that with thousands of workers nationwide expected to join Cosatu’s strike for decent work on Friday, the SA Communist Party (SACP) pledged its support for the action.
The party said on Friday it backed the labour federation’s demands for economic transformation to benefit workers and added that it further supported “Cosatu’s call for the acceleration of processes to ensure the implementation of the national minimum wage.” SACP leaders and members will join the action. Cosatu’s demands to the government include implementation of the national minimum wage and the National Health Insurance Plan; an adequate public transport system; and the scrapping of labour brokers and e-tolls.
