ANA reports that a member of the SA National Defence Force (SANDF) Reserve Force and his wife were arrested on Wednesday following an investigation into allegations of fraudulent transactions relating to call-ups of SANDF Reserve Force members.
They were arrested by the Military Police Division (MPD) in Nelspruit in Mpumalanga. SANDF spokesperson Brigadier General Xolani Mabanga said it was alleged that the member committed fraudulent transactions whilst he was serving as an HR clerk responsible for calling up of Reserve Force members at Joint Tactical Headquarters in Nelspruit over the period 2009 and 2013. “According to the evidence gathered, the member would fraudulently call them up on the system without their knowledge. It is alleged that he benefited financially from the fraudulent call-ups,” Mabanga indicated.
