busaANA reports that Business Unity South Africa (Busa) on Thursday welcomed the National Council of Provinces’ passing of the Unemployment Insurance Amendment Act, based on the consensus reached in Nedlac.  

Busa, which represents the interests of the business community, said it was “pleased with adjustments to the structure of the UIF benefits such as maternity leave improvements, longer claim periods for the unemployed and fewer restrictions for beneficiaries to access unemployment insurance.”  The organisation urged that the bill be immediately signed into law.
