ANA reports that the City of Ekurhuleni has apologised for a labour dispute that resulted uncollected waste in Germiston and says it has plans to clear the backlog.
“The interruption which is as a result of workers going on a go-slow demanding more overtime pay, has seen waste piling up in various parts of Germiston including Elsburg, Wadeville, Sunnyridge, Dinwiddie, Albermarle, Lambton, Elandsfontein and many more” said the Executive Mayor’s office. A spokesperson said they have put plans in place to deal with the massive backlog and to normalise the service as soon as possible. The City will soon be engaging the workers with regards to their grievances.
