eNCA reports that a paramedic has died after being shot during a robbery at a Gauteng Emergency Medical Services (GEMS) base in Odi, Mabopane.
Tshwane Emergency Services spokesman Johan Pieterse confirmed the death. At about 19h45 on Saturday, four employees from GEMS based in Odi Base, Tshwane District, were attacked and robbed at gunpoint while on duty. One of the medics was shot in the abdomen and was then taken to hospital. He succumbed to his injures and died in hospital on Sunday, 12 March 2017. The other affected officials are currently undergoing Post Traumatic Stress Counselling.
