News24 reports that a Cape Town metro police officer is in a critical but stable condition after being shot at eight times while in his vehicle, a City official said on Monday.
Constable Mqondisi Mkhontwana was on his way home from Mandalay on Sunday night when he was ambushed at an intersection in Mitchells Plain, safety and security mayoral committee member JP Smith reported. The shots went through the right-hand side of the vehicle and three bullets hit the officer. The officer underwent an emergency operation. Smith urged anyone with information to come forward.
