News24 reports that an application for the Cape Town Labour Court to review the decision to transfer two high-ranking police officers, Major-General Jeremy Vearey and Major-General Peter Jacobs, did not go ahead as scheduled on Wednesday.
It appeared that the court’s schedule was an issue and that time was needed to be found to hear the application in full. Two days for the hearing would be found in the next term. A date had not yet been set. Vearey, former deputy provincial commissioner for detective services, and Jacobs, who headed the Western Cape’s Crime Intelligence unit, were effectively demoted in June last year. They had been involved in several high-profile investigations. With the help of the Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union (Popcru), they approached the court to have the decision reviewed.
