Netwerk24 reports that Harmony Gold exceeded three million accident-free shifts at its Tshepong mine on Saturday, 10 June 2017.
The mine described it as an extraordinary achievement in the gold mining industry. Simphiwe Kubheka, regional manager at the Tshepong and Phakisa mine, was excited at the achievement. He noted that no fatalities have been experienced at Tshepong since 2012 and said: “I am very proud of the safety achievement of the team. Safety at Tshepong has become a life style for the workers, both at work and at home. This achievement shows that we have the ability to work safely.” He added that they were aiming for four million accident-free shifts. (Loosely translated from Afrikaans)
