Reuters reports that Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane said on Tuesday that those opposed to the 2017 Mining Charter were opposing transformation.
This came after the Chamber of Mines of SA on Monday applied for an urgent high court injunction to prevent the implementation of the Charter, which increases the minimum threshold for black ownership of mining companies. “We have confidence in the courts’ ability to act with diligence on this matter,” Zwane said in a statement.
