implatsMining Weekly reports that according to Impala Platinum (Implats), a work stoppage on 14 July at its Rustenburg mine, initiated by the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu), was resolved on the same day.

Implats corporate affairs group executive Johan Theron reported that the stoppage came about at the first shift in the early hours of Wednesday after Amcu-affiliated miners became disgruntled at the return to work of contract workers who had been protesting over the past couple of weeks. He said the Amcu members had been unhappy at the manner in which the contract workers returned to site. By the second shift on the afternoon of 14 July, the situation had been resolved, with all workers returning to work. As a result of the disruption, Implats lost one blasting shift. Amcu is the majority union at the mine.
