News24 reports that police have launched a manhunt after a 35-year-old police constable was shot at the Masilo Satellite Police Station in Theunissen, Free State.
Police spokesperson Captain Stephen Thakeng said the constable was shot by three men, who entered the police station wearing balaclavas, on Wednesday afternoon. "They started to fire shots towards the on-duty police officer, who sustained a gunshot wound in her stomach. She managed to return fire, and they fled," Thakeng reported. The officer is in a critical condition in hospital. A case of attempted murder has been registered for further investigation.
