News24 reports that a man died in a suspected illegal mining explosion in Bram Fischerville, Johannesburg, on Thursday afternoon. Two others were injured.
The City's emergency management services spokesperson, Xolile Khumalo, said the explosion was caused by dynamite connected to a vehicle battery. Khumalo advised that one person died, one was rushed to hospital and another sustained minor injuries. The victim was identified as Reason Dube. Onlookers gathered outside his rented home, as forensic pathology officials retrieved his body from inside. Family members, who stood outside of the property, said they were not allowed entry because they were told it was unsafe.
