News24 reports that Sanlam has suspended one of its employees after he allegedly swore at a pro-Palestine woman and damaged her car in an apparent road rage incident in Cape Town.
In a statement on Tuesday, the financial services group said: "With immediate effect, Sanlam has suspended an employee in light of allegations of an altercation with a public member. We do not condone behaviour inconsistent with our company standards and values. A thorough, fair and independent investigation is under way." The employee has since been identified as Adam Bulkin, a head of global portfolios at Sanlam. His attorney, Bruce Hendricks, advised: “I can confirm our client was taken in this morning to the police station and he was released on a warning. He will appear on 24 January in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court on charges of malicious damage to property and we are busy with a legal process.” Over the weekend, Rebecca Karlovic shared her version of what had happened on X. She alleged that the Sanlam employee blocked her car after he noticed a "Free Palestine" poster in her window. She said Bulkin proceeded to follow her to a parking spot in Hudson Street, Green Point, where he allegedly shouted and swore at her. She claimed he then scratched her car.
