SANParksSABC News reports that a Kruger National Park ranger was airlifted to hospital after being gored by a buffalo.

The park’s spokesperson Ike Phaahla reported that two rangers were patrolling on Tuesday when a buffalo charged them from behind. The ranger managed to cling to the buffalo’s horns while his colleague put it down. “One of our field rangers was seriously wounded by a buffalo while in a patrol in the Pretoriuskop section of the Kruger National Park. He was stabilized on the scene of the attack and he’s currently receiving medical attention at a health facility. Our prayers are with him, his colleague and family. The animal was destroyed by the other field ranger who was patrolling with him at the time”, Phaahla indicated. The injured ranger is described as being in a stable condition.
