The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) said the officers, both aged 25, were arrested after the alleged rape at the guesthouse in Kroonstad on 8 June. IPID spokesperson Phaladi Shuping said the two officers allegedly met two women, both aged 21, at a nightclub where they had been drinking. “They later agreed to go together to the guesthouse. One police officer allegedly raped one of the women, and a case was opened,” Shuping reported. The officers face charges of rape and conspiracy to rape.
