ancThe Citizen reports that at a media briefing on Sunday, ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula claimed that the non-payment of the November salaries of staff at Luthuli House had been resolved.

“The component member of staff that is not paid is management, starting with me, Secretary General. All our staff below have been attended to in terms of salaries,” Mbalula indicated. He was speaking ahead of the party’s upcoming National General Council – a key mid-term assessment of the administration elected at the last elective conference. In a letter dated 29 November, ANC general manager Patrick Flusk had informed staff that their November salaries would be delayed.

Mbalula said the party was seeking a permanent solution to the salary payment issue. “We are working on resolving this issue through our rigorous fundraising efforts to ensure that our staff bill is settled. The ANC every month has to service the staff salary to large amounts of 20 million per month. We are intending to work around it to ensure that this mishap of non-payment of people, and all of that is resolved,” Mbalula stated.
