Press Statement dated 15 August 2018

The Public Servants Association (PSA) welcomes the appointment of acting National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP), Dr Silas Ramaite, with the call for restoration of the integrity of the institution.

“The PSA wishes Dr Ramaite well in his interim role and pleads with him to rise above the muddy waters that were created in the NPA. The PSA further calls upon the President not to novel the judgement but rather move with speed in applying his mind. The nation and NPA employees expect an urgent and resolute way forward in ensuring the reign of sanity for the institution. The 90 days given by the ConCourt cannot be justification for another unnecessary, protracted delay in appointing a permanent NDPP. The restoration of the NPA's integrity is of utmost importance because this institution is a critical pillar to the smooth functioning of the country’s entire criminal justice system,” said PSA General Manager, Ivan Fredericks.
