Press Statement dated 4 September 2018

Trade union Solidarity will hand over a memorandum to Sasol Management at the company’s Sasolburg plant tomorrow, 5 September. This follows after the trade union announced this week that its members have begun industrial action at the company because of the controversial Khanyisa share scheme that excludes white employees based on the colour or their skin.

Hundreds of Sasol employees will participate in the handing over of this memorandum. Solidarity Chief Executive Dr Dirk Hermann will address the attendees and Sasol Management has already agreed to the handing over of the memorandum.

In addition, hundreds of memorandums will be handed over at several companies as part of a national day of support for the Sasol employees. Solidarity members across a wide spectrum of companies will hand over memorandums confirming support for the Sasol employees. This day of support will also be characterised by a call on the public to wear blue on this day, and a call will also go out not to fill up with petrol at Sasol petrol stations as a symbolic gesture.

Members of the media are invited to attend the handing over of the memorandum in Sasolburg.
